2013 — “From Whole to Whole” series

The “From Whole to Whole” series is not just an opportunity to experience the aesthetics of color transitions, shapes, lines, and forms. It is also my reflection on the idea of the “whole” in art.

The world is structured in such a way that everything can be broken down into parts — any object can be reduced to molecules and atoms. In the same way, artistic experience builds upon what already exists. Every encounter with the work of other artists becomes a foundation for new projects — a continuation of art history. And quite often, this leads to what can be called “art about art”.

At some point, I began photographing my own paintings. My already existing work started generating a new form of art. A painting itself is structured like a system of molecules and atoms. I take it apart into fragments, and these fragments become independent works — photographs.

In this way, I extend the life of the original work and begin to see its separate elements as autonomous pieces. When we look at a photograph of a painting, we usually perceive it as reproduction, as duplication. I suggest seeing it instead as a creative act. A creative reproduction can be art.

A painting is already a visual image. A photograph of a painting becomes a new exploration, a new reflection, a new visual perspective that transforms the existing relationships of color, line, form, and scale.

My “From Whole to Whole” series consists of individual points of view within a painting — independent elements that exist as separate works.
