2016 Series of Works “Parts”

There is a person’s inner space, and there is an outer space. There is a figure, and there is a background. These are two worlds that exist in relation to each other. We see forms, we see their silhouettes: youth and old age, beauty and ugliness, and so on. But in reality we often see fragments that we sometimes mistake for the whole.

The series “Parts” is a mosaic of fragments from a person’s inner and outer worlds. The image of a person is assembled like a mosaic, piece by piece. Sometimes it seems to happen quickly, and sometimes it takes a lifetime.

​

And since nothing is static and everything changes, we can never fully complete this puzzle. Everything becomes even more complicated when relationships appear between people.

To understand a person, we divide them into parts in order to assemble a whole. But to understand the whole, we have to take it apart into pieces. All our lives we both break things into parts and try to create a whole.

And so it continues endlessly.
